Raising Democracy in Augmented Reality

After the student learning activity (SLA)

1. How important are elections for you? Can they really change things?
2. How real is our democracy nowadays?

Comments

  1. 1) Elections play a crucial role not only in governmental issues but on citizens lives as well! Elections can define how the future of a small community or a country will be. For me elections for a new government have not been a part of my life yet since I just turned 18 but they had followed me through my school years, voting for different members of the school/class council. I think elections can change things but it depends on who are you voting for and what will that person provide in exchange of someone’s vote!
    2) Democracy nowadays I would say is 60%-70% real... There are a lot of misunderstandings that happen and a lot of situations are not being dealt the way the should...

    1. 1)Elections do not play an important role in my life because I cannot be a part of that and I cannot vote. I personally think that it does not matter because whoever is in power they all do the same thing. Every candidate promises a lot of things but they do not fulfill their promises. Before the elections candidates promise one thing and they are very kind, so that naive people can vote for them, and after the elections, they completely change themselves.
2)My opinion is that the democracy in Croatia are more or less real because everyone has the opportunity to vote. Not every citizen in other countries has this opportunity.(Jan,Croatia)

    2. The result of the election has a big impact on our future and that is why everyone who has the right to vote should vote in the election. Every good citizen should participate in the vote. People sometimes forget how to solve problems. Often misunderstandings in government can divide the entire society.

  2. 1) Elections aren't really important for me because I don't know much about politics so I don't know what's going on and I still don't have the right to vote so I can't change anything.
In my opinion they can change things in either way, good or bad. That depends on who we vote for and what are his or hers motives and believes.
    2) In most cases people only choose their leader and it's called democracy but later they don't have control over their leaders actions.

  3. 1.) Elections do not play a big role in my life, even though I think they are very important. The only reason why I'm not interestred in elections is because I'm under 18 and cannot vote. If I were 18, I would be much more interested in them because that is the only way I could make a difference in the world. That is why I think it is not good that some people don’t vote, they don’t use their opportunity.
2.) The idea of democracy is good but it is not performed in the right way. It’s clear that there is a need to rethink democracy. The solution, however, is not to revamp the old model but to defend and simultaneously revisit the idea of democracy. We need to do so in such a way that it fosters equality, freedom and a sense that ordinary citizens have a greater influence on politics.

    1. Anyone who is over 18 and able to vote should go to elections. Because the future of the country depends on it. If we have such a right, we should make full use of it. So I agree with you.

  4. 1.Elections are important for me because new politicians will change my country and laws in it and that will be my future. I can't vote yet because I am underage but I can tell my parents my opinion and suggest what party I would choose. Politicians can change things but in most of cases they say a lot before elections and than they don't do as they promised.
    2. My opinion is that democracy is better in Croatia than in the rest of the world because I think that some of the countries are not fair with all of the people (they don't have the same rights). Everyone should have a right to vote!

    2. I believe that the future of democracy lies in the hands of young people who do not live and breathe the past but they are creative and have the chance to change democracy for better.

  5. 1) Elections are very important for me because even if I am underaged, someone`s vote will define my future and situation in the country I live in. Since I cannot vote yet, I can`t say and do much about it, so I have to rely on other people and their opinion. Since voting works for the majority, it is good because if majority thinks someone is the best for certain position than that person must be someone trustful and someone most people believe in. Everyone has an opportunity to at least say their opinion and maybe change the current situation.
    2) Our democracy nowadays depends on the country someone lives in. People in different countries have different rights. In most countries it is quite real, especially in the countries that still have voting on "papers" than those with electronic voting system. With papers and counting you can`t influence the results too much and it is not as risky as electronic voting (because of the hackers) where you can affect results pretty much.

  6. Elections are important for every country or community because they define people's future. Elections for a new government are not really important for me because I am only 16 years old. Elections can change things but it depends on who will win.
I think that democracy nowdays is 70% real because every government promises better future but nothing has changed so far.

    1. The government has a big impact on the future of the community through the laws it adopts. Sometimes these laws are good, and sometimes not (or not fully thought out). Unfortunately, politicians often promise a lot and do little.

  7. Although I cannot vote yet, elections are still very important for me. Electing a good leader today means having a better future tomorrow. Can they really change things? Yes. Every vote counts.

We are given false advertisement and empty promises when it comes to elections. We don't actually know what exactly is about to change and that's why democracy doesn't really work.

    1. You're right. If there weren't so many lies around us it would be easier, and the elections would not be a difficulty for us because we would know who is the right candidate to rule the country.

  8. 1.) Elections are really important because they can actually change things. Although I can't vote yet, because I haven't turned 18, I think that my opinion matters as well as anyone else's. I think that if we aren't going to any kind of elections, we have no right to complain about decisions that are made by the person/thing that we have elected. Our vote matters. That is why I think elections are important and that they can change things.
2.) I think that democracy nowadays is real. Young people are listened to more than ever, they have power to change things trough social media. I think that that is really important because at the end of the day we are able to create our own world that we are living in. We need to decide what world we want to live in.

  9. It is important to go on elections because we can choose who will be our president but we don`t know their personalities so maybe they can be good or they can be bad. You never know.

Our democracy nowadays isn`t very good. People from different parts of the country have different rights and some can`t tell their opinion so that`s not right.

  10. 1. Elections are a formal group decision that chooses an individual for a certain role to fulfill. Although that seems easy it can be very difficult because your decision can result in serious consequence, not noticeable at first. To elect means to know for who and what we are willing to fight. Voting for me is a thing of understanding, it looks and sound mesmerizing but it is more important than we think because in the end our decision can lead to prosperity or poverty.
    2. „Democracy is the worst form of government except for all the rest.”- Winston Churchill
There is some truth in this quote, democracy to say is amazing but should the world suffer for the few minds that say otherwise and everything is voted for them. Democracy to say is real but we need to take care of it, when our elders die the world will be left to us to take care of it, so we should think what is the best for all of us.

2.Nowadays democracy is middle becouse our governmet promise a lot things but after election they don’t do this things. I thing this is really unfair ,democracy should be more equal.

Democrasy nowdays is very weak, because most people are stupid and they vote at beautiful words istead good plan for future.

I think, that elections can really change things only if we make a good choice, if we make a bad decision, and choose a wrong person, we can ruin our future.

I think it's hard to define, because there are lot of misunderstandings with people rights,

  18. For me, elections are important. We choose the people who will represent us. We select people whose plans suit us. Each of us has a real impact on the outcome of the election.
Nowadays, in most cases, democracy looks at it should - People choose government. Everyone has the right to vote. We can petition, we can strike. The government listens to people. Unfortunately, sometimes there are situations when the government does not listen to its citizens or changes its regulations to make it more comfortable to govern.

  19. 1. I think that elections are important and necessary. Every single person, who is older than 18 , has the right to settle how will his country function now and in future.

    2. Nowadays democracy is very specific. In different countries are different rules. In Poland democracy doesn't always consistent. Many times the government promises, but it doesn't always fulfil them.

  20. 1.Elections are very important to me. It's up to each of us who will rule our country. It is so easy. All we need to do is cast our vote, and the functioning of the country may depend on it.

2.Our democracy looks very different nowadays. Not always as it should. Everyone knows that democracy is freedom of speech and truth. But unfortunately we can't always give our views, and the media and government do not always show the whole truth.

  21. 1. In my opinion, the elections are very important to me, because it is we who elect the government representatives who will govern our country. We are the ones who shape our country. I'm 18 years old, so I'm going to vote with my whole family.

    2. Democracy in Poland today is average because politicians promise a lot before the elections, and after the elections they do not do most of what they promised. This is very unfair, because people think that it will be like politicians promise, and it is not the case at all.

  22. 1. I don’t know anything about politics, but I think that democracy is very important. People have to decide about their future and have the body of opinion in the society of the country. For me next election will be the first ones in my life, because I’m eighteen years old. I think that one person cannot change anything.

    2. In the past the idea of democracy was very good but now at bottom of democracy there is one big fraud. Many people don’t have any idea about democracy.

    1. 1. I dont agree with you, I think that every vote counts, if every person will be thinking that he is just one person and can't change things it can make things worse in our country, because we creating our future, our choice is very important, and we should vote, we should use the rights which have been given for us.
      2. It's true only in 50%, maybe there is big fraud, but it's not because of democracy, but because of people, and i still think, that the idea of democracy is really good. And maybe many people don't have any idea about democracy, but in most cases they are young people, and they aren't really interested about that, but this will change in the future, when they will be voting, and they will understand, that this is very important, and they have to make good decision.

  23. 1. I think that the elections are important, because it is a part of democracy and they can change a lot when it comes to the government and the composition of the government. However, despite the promises that were made, we cannot not sure that they will become true, so the changes may be positive but also neagtive.

    2. I think that in many countries democracy exists only officially, which worries me a lot. I would like people to have more influence on what is being taken up by the government because sometimes it makes decisions we disagree with and we would like to change them ruthlessly, without strikes, demonstrations and other methods.
Democracy is a system in which every word of the citizen should count, but not always it does. There should be tolerance but not everywhere it exists.
That is why I think that in some countries there is no full democracy and democracy rules are not respected.

  24. 1) Elections are definitely an important thing - by voting you can change a lot when it comes to polytics and the government. Even though I don't really care about it and I don't take part in it, it's always good to know that I can somehow have an impact in the country I live in.

    2) It depends on what country we are speaking of. There are countries where no one in the government really cares about people, so it's hard to say whether their democracy even exists, but fortunately in most cases it's not like this. Folks take part in very different types of votings and we can often see the results of their choices, so democracy definitely exists and is doing quite well.
